Congratulations on your new kitten and thank you for choosing Animal Health Clinic as your kitten's veterinarians! It is our goal to provide your new kitten with the best medical care available. We know that kitten ownership is a big responsibility and expenses on a new kitten can certainly add up fast. In order to help minimize some of your health care costs and to make your cat ownership a happy and healthy experience, we have developed the Kitten Health Program. This program will get your kitten started off on his or her vaccines, physical exams, and feline leukemia test. Your kitten will be given a thorough medical exam to determine its general health and to rule out any congenital birth defects. During the course of the plan two stool samples will be requested to check for intestinal parasites (worms). Parasites are identified by microscopically observing the eggs, which the adult worms, when present, pass into the bowel of the kitten.

THERE ARE 3 DISEASES FOR WHICH WE RECOMMEND VACCINATION:

Distemper: A viral infectious disease that affects any system of the body. All cats are susceptible, but in young animals it is usually fatal.

Feline Leukemia: A virus that permanently suppresses the immune system, making the cat extremely susceptible to any viral or bacterial infection that it comes in contact with. Feline Leukemia is a fatal disease. The average life span of a cat with feline leukemia is less than 2 years.  The immune system of kittens makes them especially susceptible to FeLV.

Rabies: A fatal viral disease which attacks the central nervous system. Transmitted to both humans and animals by the bite of an infected animal.

SPAYING AND NEUTERING ARE ROUTINELY PERFORMED AT 6 MONTHS OF AGE.
